Becoming No. 03

Becoming No. 03 is a one-of-a-kind ceramic vessel shaped by hand, allowing both the clay body and the movement of glaze to remain visible across the surface.

The silhouette stays within the familiar form explored throughout the collection — balanced, quiet, and instinctive — while the surface becomes more expressive. Areas of the raw clay remain exposed as layered glazes move and settle during the firing.

Yellow tones soften and drip gently across the form, meeting warmer reds and deep browns. Small traces of blue melt into surrounding colours, and subtle pastel pinks appear where heat and minerals interact within the kiln. Rather than a controlled palette, the piece reveals a conversation between material and fire, with each tone emerging through the process rather than being precisely placed.

Becoming No. 03 belongs to the Becoming collection — a small body of work exploring variation, transformation, and the alchemy of the firing. Each piece exists only once and cannot be repeated.
