Imagine waking up in the Italian countryside with nowhere to be but the studio.
For seven days you’ll make, colour and create with your own hands, learning the techniques I’ve spent years developing and have taught to more than 2,000 students around the world. Between sessions there’s long lunches at the farm, aperitivo as the sun goes down, and the kind of conversations that only happen when you step out of your life for a while.
You’ll leave with pieces you made yourself, a new way of seeing colour, and the knowledge to keep creating once you’re home.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
The Rolling Pin Method
My signature way of creating sculptural forms using just your hands and a rolling pin, no wheel needed. If you’re new to clay, it’s the simplest way to make something beautiful from your very first piece. If you’ve been making for years, it’s a completely new way to build: bigger, freer, and more sculptural than you thought possible.
Colour Secrets
One “mother recipe” that unlocks almost any colour you can imagine. You’ll learn to mix your own colours from scratch using ceramic stains, so you’re never limited to what’s on a shelf again, and your work looks like no one else’s.
Surface and decoration
My newest explorations in layering colour, with watercolour, chalk and more. This is where your pieces become truly yours.

YOUR WEEK IN BERGAMO
Day 1 · Monday
Welcome to the farm. An introduction to the Rolling Pin Method, starting with the cylinder and simple forms to really learn the technique. In the evening, a welcome dinner together at the farm.
Day 2 · Tuesday
Bigger forms. Slab coils, rainbow slabs and your first carving. You’ll finish the pieces you’ll take home, and they’ll dry in the Italian sun.
Day 3 · Wednesday
While your pieces are in their first firing, we dive into Colour Secrets: the mother recipe and mixing your own colours from scratch. In the evening, an optional trip to the old town of Bergamo or to Milan.
Day 4 · Thursday
Colour play. Testing, layering and seeing how colour behaves on carved and smooth surfaces.
Day 5 · Friday
Decoration day. A full day bringing colour to your fired pieces, from Colour Secrets to my newest surface techniques. Your pieces then go into the kiln for their final firing.
Day 6 · Saturday
A free day while the kiln works its magic. Explore Milan or Lake Garda by train, or simply slow down and enjoy the countryside.
Day 7 · Sunday
A flower workshop on the farm, the kiln opening (the best moment of the week), and a goodbye brunch together.
I’ll be demonstrating throughout the week, so you can watch pieces come to life from start to finish.
A DAY AT THE FARM
Workshops run from 9.30am to 4pm, with a daily pickup and drop-off from the hotel.
At lunch we stop for an hour to share a freshly prepared meal at the farm. Each workshop day ends with an Italian aperitivo, a drink or a gelato.
The studio sits on a working flower farm near Treviglio, in the countryside just outside Bergamo, and you’re welcome to wander through it.

MEET BIANCA
I’m Bianca Pintan, a ceramic artist and educator, born in Brazil and based in Byron Bay, Australia.
My work has been exhibited at Salone del Mobile in Milan, representing Australia, and at 1000 Vases in France, with shows in Paris, Sydney and Byron Bay. Since 2022, Cartier has commissioned me to create pieces for their VIP rooms. I’m represented by Studio Gallery and Galerie Philia.
But teaching is where my heart is. I created the Rolling Pin Method and Colour Secrets to make ceramics feel possible for everyone. More than 2,000 students in over sixty countries have learned them, and ceramics teachers around the world now pass them on.
I keep each week to 18 people, so I can be at every table, every day.

GOOD TO KNOW
Getting there: The studio is on a flower farm near Treviglio, in the countryside just outside Bergamo. Via Castolda 51, 24047 Treviglio, Bergamo, Italy
Trips: All trips are optional, so you can join in or simply rest. Trains to Bergamo, Milan and Lake Garda cost around €4–9 each way, paid by you, and we’ll take you to and from the local station.
Food: Every dietary requirement is catered for. Just let us know when you book.
Your pieces: You’ll receive them at the kiln opening on Sunday, packed and ready for your suitcase.
Before you arrive: You’ll receive a welcome email with everything you need, plus our local guide to the best bars and restaurants in the area.
Insurance: We recommend taking out travel insurance.

QUESTIONS
I’ve never touched clay. Is this for me?
Yes. The Rolling Pin Method is simple to learn, and you’ll make pieces you’re proud of from day one.
I’m an experienced maker. Will I be challenged?
Absolutely. Everyone learns the same techniques, but the depth you take them to is up to you. Your existing skills become the foundation, and the Rolling Pin Method and Colour Secrets give you a whole new language for form and colour. Many ceramics teachers have learned these techniques with me and now teach them to their own students.
So how does a mixed group work?
Everyone receives the same teaching. What you create depends on where you’re starting from. Beginners leave with a strong foundation. Experienced makers leave with new possibilities to take back to their own practice. I’ve taught both at the same table many times, and the mix is part of what makes the week so special.
Can I come on my own?
Yes, and many people do. You’ll arrive knowing no one and leave with friends from around the world.
What should I bring?
Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy. Everything else is provided.
How many people will be there?
A maximum of 18, so I can work with every person, every day.
CANCELLATION POLICY
More than 90 days before the workshop: full refund
31 to 90 days before: 50% refund, or transfer to a later workshop if available
30 days or less: no refund
If the workshop is cancelled by the organisers, including if minimum numbers aren’t reached, you’ll receive a full refund
